Message A while back I posted a thread about having rented an Audi R8 in Vegas and taking it around a track for 7 laps. I recently had the chance to do the same 7 laps, but this time in a GT-R.

GT-R

It is a much bigger, heavier, and powerful vehicle IMO. It generates the power as expected much sooner than the R8. Despite all of that power, I'd say the overall driving experience is less driver oriented.

The car is constantly re-balancing itself and cutting power to wheels/braking because of the added weight and power. It isn't a terrible thing though: I do believe my lap time *might* have been a hair quicker... 57.5 versus 58.1-.4 around a 1.2 mile track. I can't recall exactly to be honest. My instructor was far more invasive in my driving experience this time compared to when I was in the R8. I probably could have shaved off another 0.5s.

I didn't think the interior was anything spectacular. It wasn't bad, but probably not what you'd expect for a $100k car.

Audi R8

Much better driver-experience in this car. It is smaller and feels more nimble and manageable around the track. You don't necessarily notice the computer kicking in to manage the vehicle as much.

This is likely because 1) it is better balanced 52/48 i believe 2) weighs less 3) power ramp isn't as severe below 3k RPMs. Exiting the turns is much more smooth and predictable as you unwind and build speed.

I thought the interior was a bit nicer in the R8 as well.
